Challenging Students to Grow in Every Area

At Parkersburg Catholic, we don't need fancy honors-class labels to challenge your child. We build rigor into every class, every grade, every day. Students graduate with 32 credit hours — more than West Virginia requires — and leave prepared for college, career, and life.

Our approach is intentionally hands-on and traditional: real books, real conversations, and teachers who actually know your child. Faith, character, and academic excellence grow together here.

  • 32 credit hours to graduate, exceeding state and county requirements
  • Dual-credit classes and college preparation built in
  • Two recent National Merit Scholarship recipients
  • Hands-on, traditional learning — books over screens
  • Small classes where individual attention isn't a luxury, it's the standard

Tuition & Financial Aid

“But Can We Afford It?” — Yes, You Probably Can.

A Parkersburg Catholic education is more accessible than most families assume. West Virginia families can use the HOPE Scholarship, expected to be over $5,400 per student in 2026–27, to cover a significant portion of tuition. Combined with 12-month payment plans and additional financial aid, the out-of-pocket cost is often far lower than families expect.

Grade Level
Annual Tuition
Elementary (PK3–5)
$6,750
Middle School (6–8)
$8,535
High School (9–12)
$9,860

12-month payment plans available. HOPE Scholarship and additional financial aid can significantly reduce these amounts for eligible families.

From Our Families

Nine Years In, and Still the Right Choice

This is the ninth year that our children will attend Parkersburg Catholic Schools. Our experience is overall positive, and any problems got addressed quickly. We like the smaller class sizes and academic rigor. From my perspective, the principals (both are recent hires) of both schools show outstanding leadership and have the best interest of the students and the school in mind.

We have loved being a part of this community. The teachers and staff are always working hard to provide a valuable education and help grow a rich faith life for our children.

Smaller class rooms with more one on one attention. The teachers have the ability to change curriculum and move as fast or slow to accommodate every child. The school uses the national honor students as tutors in the entire school study hall in last period of the day. In a word academics. Then the family feeling every time you walk in the building built on faith and fellowship.

All five of our children graduated from PC and have become very happy, successful adults. The atmosphere and caring they experienced there played a huge part in that.

Sally McDonie
Parent of Alumni

I am a graduate of Parkersburg Catholic High School class of 1964. Two of my children graduated from PCHS, Christi class of 1992, and Brian class of 1997. Both are teachers with IT qualifications, Christi is a teacher at PCHS 23 years. Three of my granddaughters attend PCHS grades 12, 10 and 8. I am totally vested in Parkersburg Catholic Schools. It is the best of the best.

Questions

What Families Often Ask

What grade levels does Parkersburg Catholic Schools serve?
PCS serves students from age 3 Preschool through 12th grade. Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School (PCES) covers PreK–5 at 810 Juliana Street, and Parkersburg Catholic High School (PCHS) covers grades 6–12 at 3201 Fairview Avenue. A recently announced "One Campus, One Community" campaign is working toward bringing all grades onto a single unified campus.
What is the age requirement for Preschool?
Our preschool programs are designed for children who are age 3 or age 4. Children must typically be the required age by a set cutoff date. If you fill out the form on this page we'd be happy to discuss this with you.
What is the age requirement for Kindergarten?
Kindergarten follows West Virginia state age requirements. If you fill out the form on this page, we'd be happy to discuss the specific age cutoff date for the upcoming school year with your family.
What are Preschool hours?
Preschool traditionally runs Monday through Friday from 8:15 AM to 2:30 PM at Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School, 810 Juliana Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
What are school hours for Kindergarten through Grade 12?
Bell times vary slightly between the Elementary and High School buildings. If you fill out the form on this page, we'd be happy to share the current schedule that applies to your child's grade level.
What is the average class size?
Small class sizes are one of the core advantages of a Parkersburg Catholic education. Our lower teacher-to-student ratios allow for enhanced individualized attention and a true "family" atmosphere where teachers and students know each other well.
How much is tuition?
Annual tuition for the 2025–26 school year is $6,750 for Elementary (PK3–5), $8,535 for Middle School (6–8), and $9,860 for High School (9–12). 12-month payment plans are available, and we encourage every family to explore financial aid and scholarship options before ruling out enrollment on cost.
What financial aid and scholarships are available?
Parkersburg Catholic Schools is an approved education service provider for the West Virginia HOPE Scholarship, which can cover a substantial portion of tuition for eligible West Virginia families. Additional financial aid, grants, and scholarship opportunities are available through FACTS tuition management. Fill out the form on this page and we'd be happy to discuss what your family qualifies for specifically.
Is Parkersburg Catholic Schools accredited?
Yes. PCS is a fully accredited private educational institution in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Accreditation matters because graduates of an accredited high school can apply freely to any accredited college or university in the nation, while graduates of unaccredited schools often face additional hurdles in the college admissions process.
What is the admissions process?
Admissions is a simple multi-step process:
(1) Request information through our online inquiry form for either PreK–5 or grades 6–12,
(2) Schedule a tour and, for older students, a shadow day,
(3) Submit your application online through the PCES or PCHS application portal, and
(4) Complete enrollment paperwork and tuition setup through FACTS.
We're happy to walk your family through each step.
Do you have to be Catholic to attend?
No. Parkersburg Catholic welcomes all families interested in providing their children with a quality faith-based education. Our admissions policy does give enrollment priority to current students, siblings, and practicing Catholic families, but non-Catholic students are actively welcomed and enrolled each year.
What academic results do students achieve?
Parkersburg Catholic has a 100% graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate. Our students' ACT average is consistently 2–3 points above the national average, reflecting the rigor of our curriculum and the individualized attention our teachers provide.
How experienced are the teachers?
Our faculty averages 17+ years of teaching experience. 52% of PCS instructors hold master's degrees, and 32% are themselves PCS graduates — a strong signal of the community's commitment to the school.
What does faith formation look like at PCS?
Faith is woven throughout the school day rather than treated as a separate subject. Students participate in daily chapel and religion classes, weekly Mass, retreats, classroom service projects, and acts of charity. Catholic and Christian values are integrated into every area of the curriculum, with an emphasis on moral development, self-discipline, and service to others.
How does PCS approach safety and security?
We take the responsibility of keeping your children safe very seriously. Security measures across both campuses include state-of-the-art cameras, staff radio communication, and regular safety training for all faculty and staff. According to students, fights and bullying are essentially unheard of in our community.
Are there uniforms?
Yes. Parkersburg Catholic Schools has a uniform policy for all students. Uniforms can be purchased through our approved vendor, Pro3 Services. Detailed uniform guidelines are available in the Parent-Student Handbook.
Do you provide Before and Afterschool Care?
Before-care and aftercare availability, hours, and pricing vary by year and age group. Fill out the form on this page and we'd be happy to walk your family through the current options.
What extracurricular activities are offered?
PCS offers an impressive range of athletics, arts, and faith-based activities for a school of our size. Parents consistently mention that the breadth of courses and extracurricular options is a standout given our student population — "limited only to the students' imagination," as one parent put it.
